Cathay Bank fosters the growth and development of our team members, and we provide resources and training programs in leadership, operations, and customer service to help them achieve their professional goals.
In addition to tuition reimbursement, bank sponsored Toastmasters club, and on-the-job training, we also offer a series of leadership training programs to prepare team members for the next step in their career path at Cathay Bank:
We develop our relationship bankers in the areas of bank and teller operations, new accounts, basic mortgage, and sales, and prepare them for Relationship Banker Certification.
We provide our team members with a foundation of supervisory and managerial skills to take their leadership development to the next level.
We focus on the development of senior managers and leaders, including alumni from Emerging Leadership Program I. This training focuses on the development of leaders and the importance of establishing a leadership voice, the best ways to communicate with their staff to drive results and the best practices in the area of coaching.
We bring in talented individuals who are interested in a career in banking and/or financial services. Through a series of 10-12-month training classes, department overviews and presentations, including rotations in various departments, we give our officer trainees the exposure to the inner workings of a bank. Upon graduation, the officer trainee will be enrolled into the bank’s 12-month Mentorship Program and assigned a mentor, who is an inspiring senior leader.
We designed this program to enhance the confidence of our Assistant Customer Sales & Service Managers, Customer Sales & Service Managers, and Senior Relationship Bankers, to develop their decision-making skills. An emphasis is placed on understanding the “why” behind certain operational decisions.
We introduce leaders of our bank to a set of skills and tools designed to build stronger working relationships, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of a manager’s interaction with their team members. Managers can use the skills learned to foster a positive work environment to keep their employees motivated, engaged and inspired.
This 6-month intense program includes a series of self-assessments and a 360-feedback assessment. It is designed to help the cohort members communicate more effectively and address conflict as they work toward solving a real issue, problem, or initiative that the organization is looking to solve or implement.
